Lioness Defense offers both shooting and non shooting courses for students of all skill levels.

NAAGA Concealed Carry Course

NAAGA’s mission is to offer fellowship by education on the rich legacy of gun ownership by African Americans and offering training that supports safe gun use for self-defense and sportsmanship. This 16-hour course is taught live in person and requires time on the gun range in a live fire environment. Meets the requirements for Virginia, DC and Maryland permits.

Course Fee: $350

Time: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Classroom Time: 12 Hours

Range Time: 4 Hours

Required Round Count: 150 Rounds

Course Description: This is a live fire course. Complete the NAAGA Concealed Carry Course and satisfy the requirements for a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

The NRA Basic Pistol shooting course will introduce you to firearms and provide the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. The course includes classroom instruction, practical application, evaluation, and a range qualification shoot. During this class, you will learn Safe Gun Handling Techniques, Pistol Knowledge, Fundamentals of Shooting, Shooting Positions, and more.

What will be provided (no cost): NRA Pistol Course Student Material, Completion Certificate that meets Virginia’s Concealed Carry application requirements, handgun and ammunition.

Students should bring their own: Eye and Ear protection (electronic suggested)

Course Fee: $150

Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Classroom Time: 6 Hours

Range Time: 2 Hours

Required Round Count: 60 Rounds

Ready, Set, Draw | Holster Clinic


Welcome to our “Draw From Holster” clinic! This clinic is designed for individuals who want to improve their skills in drawing a firearm from a holster quickly and efficiently. Our experienced instructors will provide hands-on training and guidance to help you develop the muscle memory and techniques needed for a safe and effective draw.

During the clinic, you will learn about the fundamentals of drawing from a holster, including proper grip, stance, and body positioning. Our instructors will also cover the importance of situational awareness, proper gun handling, and firearm safety.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced shooter, our “Draw From Holster” clinic is a great opportunity to enhance your skills and gain confidence in your ability to handle a firearm. Join us and take the first step towards becoming a more proficient and responsible gun owner.

Prerequisites: Basic Handgun Class or equivalent

Course Fee: $75

Time: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Lecture Time: 2 Hours

Range Time: 2 Hours

Required Round Count: 100 Rounds

*Please ensure you are following all VA/DC/MD state laws for the transportation of firearms. You must bring your own firearm. NO LIVE AMMO will be allowed in the classroom. *

We will cover:

  • Safety Rules and Safe Handling Procedures
  • Review of basic skills
  • How to choose a holster
  • Proper holster placement
  • Hazards of improper carry and Re-holstering
  • Proper access and draw from the holster
  • Recover to holster safely
  • Effective dry draw drills for home use to help develop proficiency

What to Bring:

  • A reliable firearm that is cased and unloaded
  • 2-3 magazines
  • 100 rounds of practice ammunition
  • Sturdy belt designed to support your holster and handgun
  • A sturdy outside the waistband or inside the waistband holster that attaches to a belt, molded for your gun
  • Eye protection, Ear Protection (electronic suggested)
  • Ball cap
  • You, and a good attitude

Private Training

Welcome to our private firearm instruction services, where safety and proficiency are our top priorities. Our experienced instructors provide personalized coaching in a one-on-one setting, tailored to your individual needs and skill level. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics or an experienced shooter seeking to refine your technique, we can help you achieve your goals. Our instruction covers a wide range of firearms, including handguns, rifles, and shotguns. We emphasize safety first and foremost, and our instructors are dedicated to ensuring that you have a safe and enjoyable learning experience. Our one-on-one training is tailored to the shooter’s needs. This will be based on the level of experience and what the intended personal goals are. Our range time offers you the opportunity to become comfortable with handguns in a casual and stress-free environment.

Course Fee: $90 per hour; Clients must pay for their own ammunition and range fees.

So You Want to Buy a Gun

For potential new gun handgun owners looking to purchase their first firearm and would like to get a feel for the different calibers and firearm sizes, this is for you. The session will review safety procedures and provide a variety of firearms and calibers to shoot. Patrons will be able to shoot (one) magazine from each firearm.

Firearms will include a variety of handgun calibers and sizes.

Course Fee: $250

Time: Scheduled at your convenience

Range Time: 3 Hours

Required Round Count: 100 Rounds

Course Description: Work one-on-one with our instructor so that your better prepared and well-educated when purchasing your first handgun.

NRA Women On Target®

Women On Target is here to provide a safe and friendly venue to learn these critical skills from—and with—women who have walked in your shoes. It provides beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to own and use a firearm safely.

Whether you’re picking up a gun for the very first time or just brushing the dust off your skills, you’ll immediately feel at ease in our clinic. No experience or equipment is necessary to participate. We will provide a light snack. Please pack your own lunch.

Course Fee: $155

Classroom Time: 6 Hours

Range Time: 2 Hours

Required Round Count: 50 Rounds
