Suicide Intervention Initiative

The Suicide Intervention Initiative is a forward-thinking initiative aiming to provide knowledge of firearms safety and proper storage to help mitigate suicide.
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, in 2020, 45, 979 Americans died by suicide and there were an estimated 1.20 million suicide attempts. Suicide is the 12th leading cause of death in the United States.
Recognizing the signs of mental health decline is not only the responsibility of the individual under duress, it is also something those around them should be cognizant of. Learning how to recognize the signs and implementing measures to effectively separate people from firearms when going through a mental health crisis can help save lives.
To support this initiative, Lioness Defense facilitates quarterly “Safe Guns 101” seminars promoting safe gun handling and providing instruction on how to properly clear and store your firearms. Lioness Defense will also be partnering with holdmyguns.org. Hold My Guns’ mission is to connect responsible firearm owners with voluntary, private off-site storage options during times of mental health crisis or personal need. These storage options are possible through Hold My Guns’ partnerships with national gun shops and FFLs.
